Electric Vocuhila is part of the Capsul Collectif, located in Tours (FR). Born as a saxophone / drums duo in Berlin in 2009, Electric Vocuhila has become an electric quartet in 2011. The band mixes rhythms inspired by several urban african musics like sébène from Congo, ethio-jazz or tsapiky from Madagascar, to an orchestral conception from jazz and more precisely from Ornette Coleman’s harmolodic music.
On an obstinated rhythmic base always moving, alternately hypnotic and frantic, their music is freely built around repeating units. Seeking both melodic succinctness and a kind of overflow and trance, the quartet is developing long sequences made of dazzling themes, sinuous phrasing and sharped & explosives riffs. A cheerful and urgent call to dance !

Born in 1984 in Toulouse, he starts music at an early age and discovers jazz and improvisation during master classes with Denis Badault, Guillaume Orti and Médéric Collignon. After studying jazz at the Conservatory of Chambéry, he moves to Tours and starts playing with many jazz musicians in France ( Cédric Piromalli, Pascal Maupeu, Nicolas Souchal, Jean Aussanaire ) and in Berlin (Max Andrzejewski, Yorgos Dimitriadis, Tobias Delius, Antonis Anissegos, Mike Majkowski, Antonio Borghini etc…).
In 2009 he meets and starts working with drummer Etienne Ziemniak, founding and composing for the duo Vocuhila which will give birth to Vocuhila trio (free jazz) & Electric Vocuhila (jazz & urban african music).
Starts music at an early age, learning first orchestral percussion and discovering jazz and improvisation through master classes. After graduating from Jazz à Tours, he gets involved in many jazz and free jazz bands with musicians such as Jean-Luc Cappozzo, Patrice Grente, Jean Aussanaire, Paul Dunmall, Paul Rogers, Guillaume Bellanger, Deborah Lennie, Cédric Piromalli, Yoann Loustalot…
In 2009 he meets and start working with saxophonist Maxime Bobo, creating the duo Vocuhila that will evolve into two bands : a free jazz trio and an electric 4tet inspired by urban african music. In 2012 he co-founds the Capsul Collective with fellow drummer Antoine Hefti. He plays with Electric Vocuhila, Mange-Ferraille, Volvo and Théo Ceccaldi’s Freaks.
Born in 1979, he learns piano and saxophone at the conservatory of Rouen and studies plastic arts at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Rouen and at the Paris-Sorbonne University (Master 2). He creates sound installations and composes for contemporary dance pieces or his own video installations. During collective exhibitions he meets many artists, such as Jean Dupuy, Noe Nguyen, Tania Mouraud, Jason Karaindros, Yohann Quëland de Saint Pern, Simon Rippoll, Catherine Bay, Zen Marie.
As a self-taught guitarist, keyboard and bass player and since 2004, he plays in many groups with different aesthetics : Electric Vocuhila, Parquet ( instrumental techno ), The World ( new wave ), Surnatural Orchestra ( big band )… Sometimes composing or arranging for some of these bands, he also makes the music for two
movies ( Chienne de pute by Tommy Kerne and Lécher la chair by Dan Carroll and Alexis Grattaloup) and an artist album for plastician Yohann Quëland de Saint Pern.
Guitarist and composer, born in 1987 in Clichy-la- Garenne, he starts music in 2003 and plays with the band Zem, recording two albums et touring in France and abroad. In 2009 he starts studying at Jazz à Tours, graduates in 2013 with the jury’s congratulations and starts playing with jazz and impro musicians (Serge Lazarevitch, Pierrick Menuau, Jean-Luc Capozzo…). Since 2008 he’s involved in many bands : Electric Vocuhila, Yachtclub ( experimental pop ), Rank O ( rock ), Cassauto (no wave) among others.
