ASYLON terra (land of asylum) is an emotional manifesto. Electricity passes through the wood of Pierre Lordet’s bass clarinet, it allows distorted cries and long hypnotic loops; it also lets the ebony murmur her torn melodies. The effects (distortion, delay, looper, octave, pitch …) allow a new approach to the instrument, within the sounds and textures, sometimes closer to the organ or even the electric guitar.
The language of Asylon is between pop, progressive jazz, repetitive music and electronic music.
The poly-rhythmic mastery of Clément Black on drums, rich in the teaching of Ali Alaoui invites to trance. The saturated game and the search for sounds at the electric bass, developed in “Chromb!” By Lucas Hercberg (Laureate “Jazz Migration 2015”) opens the doors of rock. Finally, the delicacy of Anne Quillier’s playing (Laureate “Jazz à la defense” 2013) on the Fender Rhodes, composer of the “Anne Quillier sextet”, reveals a textured jazz and a search for subtle textures with the Moog.
PRESS QUOTE “The real surprise of the evening […]remains the quartet “Asylon Terra”. This combo, anchored in a universe and electro sonorities on the compositions of its clarinettist and leader Pierre Lordet, recalls a certain electro-acoustic sound atmosphere in the manner of a John Surman or a Jasper Van Hoff or even sometimes noisy under the impulsion of the guitarist Lucas Hercberg in the way of Pat Metheny back in the days.. Inventive music full of references and innovative, sometimes extreme in an almost permanent search for the limits of collective and individual sound: Pierre Lordet composer and clarinettist, Anne Quillier electric pianos and synthesizer, Lucas Hercberg guitar, Clément Black drums, four well-born souls for whom talent obviously did not wait for the number of years to pass by. To follow very, very closely !!” Jazz Rhône-Alpes, part 1 of Eric Truffaz (The Source – Fontaine, France), January 2016
“A big sound very electro which calls to mind the Kraftwerk or other Klaus Schulze. Nonetheless its a inventive and very constructed music. For trained ears but once you’ve broken that barrier … what a pleasure ! »
Jazz Rhone-Alpes, May 2017
“A big musical noise as organize as chaotic, flirting as much with repetitive music and polirhythmic jazz as with rock and electro music”
“A wild instrumental cry dedicated to trance as well as to catharsis ”
“Blind Man Running, a big noise by Asylon Terra” by Stéphane Duchène, Le petit bulletin – April 2017
About Pierre Lordet : “Ghost of an abandoned opera, his music hovers like a manta ray over the electronics oceans that would not have displeased François De Roubaix”.
“Blind Man Running” by Vasken Koutoudjan, Culture au poing – April 2017
